Casa Cardinale Ildefonso Schuster is a prestigious 16th-century historic residence located in the heart of Milan, just a few steps from the Duomo. Its elegant spaces and magnificent Renaissance cloisters, commissioned by the Trivulzio family in the 1500s and restored by renowned architects such as Luca Beltrami, Cesare Nava and Antonio Cassi Ramelli, make this venue an exclusive setting for meetings, conferences, corporate events, cultural initiatives and live performances.

The venue features 5 rooms, with a capacity ranging from 40 to 440 people, suitable for hosting congresses, conventions, training courses, press conferences, meetings, corporate events, concerts, theatrical performances and other cultural initiatives.

The spaces are available from Monday to Friday from 6:30 pm onwards and during weekends. During the summer period and in September, depending on the availability of the venue, events can also be organised during daytime hours.

A place rich in history: the origins of the building date back to before 1232, when the Order of Saint Anthony Abbot established a hospice and hospital here to provide care for those affected by the so-called “sacred fire”. With the creation of the Ca’ Granda, the Antonines left Milan and the complex embarked on a long journey of transformation.

In the 16th century, thanks to the noble Trivulzio and Landriani families, the building was renovated with the creation of the magnificent cloister decorated with terracotta friezes inspired by Bramante’s style. Today, it remains one of the most remarkable architectural features of the complex, together with the historic bell tower with its conical spire dating back to 1456.

In 1576, Saint Charles Borromeo redeemed the commendam from the Landriani family for 13,000 scudi and entrusted the church and convent to the Theatine Clerics. Following the suppression of the Order in 1798 during the Napoleonic period, the complex underwent several changes of use, becoming first a military warehouse and later the headquarters of public offices and the Royal Magistrate’s Court.

In 1935, at the request of Cardinal Ildefonso Schuster, the building was reacquired by the Ambrosian Church and has since hosted the offices of numerous lay associations.

Today, Casa Cardinale Ildefonso Schuster combines the charm of its centuries-old history with the functionality of versatile spaces, offering a prestigious venue in the centre of Milan for professional, institutional, cultural and performing arts events.
