The Teatro Massimo, symbol of the city of Palermo and prestigious cultural institution, was inaugurated in 1897 on project designede by Giovan Battista Filippo Basile. It is the third largest operahouse in Europe after the Paris Opèra and the Wien Opernnhaus.
