Built at the end of 1200, the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, commonly called Palazzo del Popolo, was the seat of the first city assembly of the people’s representatives and seat of the city authorities during the government of the free Municipality.
Since 1991, after the restoration works, it has housed a modern conference center and multifunctional space for meetings and events.
The Palazzo del Popolo can accommodate 699 people in the three rooms: Sala Etrusca, Sala Expo, Sala dei 400. It has two completely independent entrances, both on the square: the large external staircase which opens onto a terrace on the square and the more conventional entrance on the ground floor. The interior is divided into several levels, all communicating with each other.
Among the fixed technical equipment of the Palazzo del Popolo: 3 booths for simultaneous infrared translation -
Control room, giant screen video projection and video recording - Closed circuit color TV in all rooms - Amplification systems, document reproduction, videoconferencing, slide projections and films - Audiovisual systems of all types
Simultaneous transcription, digital badges - Interactive multimedia systems - Set up and posters stands.
Palazzo del Popolo is also equipped with small conference spaces. The elegant Speakers’ Room, on the second floor, can accomodate up to 25 people for regular meetings and up to 12 for the business ones and guarantees confidentiality of the preparatory work of a conference as it also allows direct access to the reception and direct entrance to the Sala dei 400.
On the third floor, next to the control rooms, Palazzo del Popolo is also equipped with a Press Room which can host meetings of up to 25 people if necessary.
It is possible to provide information on assistance staff, specialized technical operators, simultaneous translators, technical equipment rental, plant setups, catering services, hostess and steward services upon request.
