The building in which the hotel Jet Hotel and the ancient Zecca restaurant are nowadays, boasts a history of three centuries and the title of Royal Printing House conferred by the House of Savoy.
The structure was in fact built in the second half of 1600 on even older pre-existences.
Over the years Belgrade became one of the most important European paper mills, so much so that King Sun, Louis XIV of France, used only the paper of Capucino.
It also became the only Italian producer of stamped and watermarked paper used by the House of Savoy.
Only in 1830, the hotel business began, also thanks to the structure of the building which had 27 rooms on the ground floor used as a laboratory, 30 on the first floor for the workers, while on the second floor were lodgings of foreign buyers and the guest house .
Although characteristic elements of the 17th century are still identifiable, such as the barrel and pavilion vaults, the current structure dates back to 1860, when the last modifications to the building were made.
But what is most fascinating is the possibility of being able to meet tangible evidence of the life and history of this building, especially identifiable in some key points such as the sundial showing the initials of the Capucini brothers or the wall in lose where the large wheel to water.
The silence and peace of this place, which has collected within its walls the papers of important treaties and the filigree of the European kingdoms, offer the modern visitor magical moments.
